Life
Life is a characteristic that distinguishes physical entities that do have biological processes, such as signaling and self-sustaining processes, from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased, or because they never had such functions and are classified as inanimate. Various forms of life exist, such as plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea, and bacteria. The criteria can at times be ambiguous and may or may not define viruses, viroids, or potential synthetic life as "living". Biology is the science concerned with the study of life.
Life
The wheels of weary life at last stood still.
Dryden and Lee, Œdipus, Act IV, scene 1.
Life
Vita, si scias uti, longa est.
Life, if thou knowest how to use it, is long enough.
Seneca the Younger, De Brevitate Vitæ, II.
Life
I know not if the dark or bright
Shall be my lot;
If that wherein my hopes delight
Be best or not.
Henry M. Alford, Life's Answer.

You probably don’t think of vast islands of plastic waste such as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an expanse of rubbish which some say is bigger than the continental United States. It was feared that collections of plastic debris like this were growing in line with our increasing rates of plastic production over the past decades. However, scientists have recently discovered that these floating eyesores are mysteriously receding – and that’s actually not a good thing…
